DIAMONDS IN THE ROUGH COACH'S SOFTBALL REPORT
DIAMONDS OFF TO A ROUGH START AS THEY DROP TWO HEART BREAKING GAMES ON OPENING DAY
What looked like victory turned out to be a heart breaking loss as WA Flames scored two runs in the tie breaking inning. The Diamonds managed to score one run in the 8th inning but wilted under the Flames perfect bunts as a result flames won 2-1. As i said its going to be whose strongest at the end who will win this tournament.
The Diamonds then took on the South Australia Starz. Diamonds scored the first run in the first inning. The Starz tied it in the 3rd, with the diamonds coming back with 2 in the fourth. A inside the park homerun by the Starz Japanese import with one on base tied the game 3-3. In the 7th inning she put the diamonds in the rough as she managed another inside the park home run.
Today the Diamonds have there biggest and hardest games possible as they play Queensland, Victoria Titans and the top place New Southwales Firestars. By tomorrow we will see how the ironwoman are standing up to this rigourous schedule.

SOFTBALL DIAMONDS NOT LADIES BEST FRIENDS
CANBERRA DIAMONDS ARE NOT ONLY IN THE ROUGH BUT WERE CRUSHED IN 4 OF THE 5 GAMS PLAYED ON THE WEEKEND.
It has been a demorlalising start for the diamonds as they have gave up the lead in 3 games to lose by one run. When we get exceptional pitching our defence lets us down with costly errors. When we get good pitching and good defence our hitters can not hit the ball. Talk about the Coach pulling his hair out.
We played Queensland Heat who thumped us 7-0. We blew a 2 run lead to Victoria Titans and lost 3-2 in the 7th inning. From our last competition Victoria are the most improved team here as they have brought in 2 very good pitchers from the USA, and they are making their presence felt as they are giving all their teamates a confidence boost. New South Wales Firestars thumped us 8-0 to give me a day i just want to forget.
Would you believe we got our first win and even then we struggled to beat Northern Territory Fury 6-2. The game was tied 2- going into the 6th inning but Diamonds finally got 3 hits in a row to score 4 runs and get their first win. We backed up against the Titans who are on a roll and they shut us down by a score of 6-0. As coach i couldn't think of anything to say but go have a drink or two and you might relax and play better tomorrow.
We meet the Heat and South Australia Starz who have brought in 2 Japanese players and they are very exciting to watch and have been the force behind Starz 3 wins.
